This is the first video in a series focused on implementing a compiler backend for a small functional language which is a variation of the untyped λ-calculus. In this video we define the language’s AST and implement a tree-walking interpreter that does term reduction by substitution. We also explore ways to encode recursion via a fixpoint combinator as well as lazy and eager evaluation strategies.

Sweden’s second biggest lake and it’s most idyllic town Vadstena with its Rennaissance castel: A place, in the center of Sweden, between Gothenburg and Stockholm, where 4 provinces are linked, and where beautiful shores meet history.
We took off from the city Gothenburg early in the morning to drive to Lake Vättern and look for the graves of my travel partner’s grandfather. The ride took us to “Torpa Stenhus”. Torpa stenhus is a well-preserved medieval castle near lake Åsunden, in the county of Västra Götaland, The first stone house was built around 1470 but Reconstruction and remodeling of the fortress was made during the 1500s and 1600s.
After we found the grave that we were looking for it was only a short ride to famous lake Vättern. Vättern is not only Sweden’s second largest lake, it is also the fifth largest lake in Europe. The lake is 135 kilometres long and 31 kilometres wide, and it links together the four provinces of Östergötland, Västergötland, Närke and Småland.
But we didn’t have much time to enjoy it’s beuaty before we realized that we lost a very important part of our motorcycle. Watch the video to find out what part it was – and to visit the beautiful town Vadstena, it’s Rennaissance castle ( Vadstena slott ) and the best restaurant Hörnet with me.
// NEW EPISODE OUT EVERY THURSDAY 19:30 CET
//Join the journey from Switzerland to Nordkapp – to Europes barely inhabited places and it’s last big secrets. The wild ride takes my travel partner and me 12.000 kilometres through 6 countries: Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden.

In this video I discuss “How much math do engineers use?” Specifically I dive into the math they use in college vs their career. For a video like this there isn’t a right answer because there are millions of engineers out there all with their unique experience. But after asking and looking around you will find consistencies in what a typical engineer would experience in their job. To summarize the math in the engineering curriculum is typically more intensive than what you’ll experience in your career. This is not to say your career will be easier, but it does mean that the rigorous math you did on your tests in engineering, is not typically what you’ll do at a job. You still have to have a mathematical foundation on the advanced concepts, but you don’t do the tedious work as much. If you do enjoy math then there are plenty of jobs out there that use math exclusively, but you may have to work your way up to those positions. You should look into what different engineering majors are like and make sure you go into a career that best fits your interests. Video Rating: / 5
